Burdov F1G - "Sweet G"
|
"Sweet G" designed and manufactured in Russia by Andrey Burdov presents the latest evolution of the Coupe, embodying what we now call 'high tech" methods and materials in the design and construction. Carbon, Kevlar, polyester tissue, and minimal balsa wood constitute the bill of materials for this Burdov design effort. Packed with good FAI Tan2 rubber, Sweet G will easily provide 2 minute max times. |

Sweet G flies with v.i.t. stab adjustment and timed rudder sequence, and it uses a Montreal style prop stop mechanism. Wing and stab are carbon 'd' box construction, with carbon fiber capped balsa ribs, carbon fiber trailing edge, and Polyspan covering. Prop blades are molded carbon/rohacell construction. The aluminum/carbon tail boom is light and strong. The highest quality materials and construction techniques are used throughout the beautiful model.
Modelers in France devised the F1G (Coupe) event, with its origins approximately during W.W.II. Coupe D' Hiver (Winter Cup) was designed to promote activity during the winter months. The class was conceived of as using smaller, easier to construct models with less rubber than was normally used in competition models at that time, but still maintaining the high performance characteristics of the popular Wakefield class.
Andrey Burdov
At age 36, Andrey Burdov has already attained a high level of achievement in European aeromodelling. Andrey started aeromodelling in 1972, made his first f1b in 1975, and has been Soviet champion, Russian champion, 3 time W.C team member, and most recently vice champion in f1b at the 1997 world aeromodelling games in Turkey.
His aeronautical engineering degree at Kazan Aviation University led to a position as "Professor of Aeromodelling Science" at the university. He is married, and has two children. He has been building and flying f1g models since 1992, and is pleased to say his personal "Sweet g" will normally clock 4-minute non-thermal flights.
